Domestic lighting fixture inspire from the Galata
Interlight is the series of lighting product that inspire from the old Galata - Sishane lighting district which was manufactured by master craftsmen during apprenticeship at Galata Abajur. General idea of the interlight to create a new understanding of lighting by using traditional way of lamp making with using the left-over or broken wireframes. Reversing the material and frame usage create a new perspective to the traditional lamp making.
As a result of urban transformation at Galata district, some of craftmen closed their atelier and the rest are going to move the suburbs. However the power of the Galata comes from the network between the ateliers, craftmen and the city. The interlight inspire from the desolated Galata, the ateliers that trying to survive are holding on the eachothers as the 2 broken metal wire of interlight. After the trials of different materials which are using at the atelier for lighting, packaging etc. and their response the light, final design is shaped.
